Description
This is a beginning of the year writing assignment for middle school. It was originally written for sixth grade and includes use of a story in the Introductory Course Holt Literature and Reading Anthology. Students explore the narrative format, then craft their own based on something they learned over the summer. Peer editing takes place and students reflect on their learning. For an extension, students have four choices of transforming their narrative into another format.
